https://improvefoto.com/lightroom-simplified/A feature coming to Adobe Lightroom and Lightroom Classic is creating a buzz among Lightroom users. According to Adobe, the October 26, 2021 Lightroom update will include an all-new selective adjustment or masking tool powered by artificial intelligence. So why is it a big deal?
For a long time, Lightroom users were limited in the way they make selections. Though they make selective adjustments, tools such as the adjustment brush and the gradient tool are not surgical. As a result, they cannot make complex selections such as masking hair. For difficult selections, Lightroom users have no choice but to jump to Photoshop to make those selections. Although Photoshop and Lightroom work seamlessly, it is time-consuming and unnecessarily makes photo editing workflow complex.
Adobe has rectified this problem. In the upcoming update, scheduled for October 26, Lightroom users will have the ability to make complex selections right inside Lightroom using masks. This new tool will replace both the adjustment brush and gradient tool. Powered by artificial intelligence, Lightroom users will have AI selections such as select subject and select sky. Other available masking options include depth range and luminance range.
Are we going to see more tools Photoshop tools migrate to Lightroom? We do not expect Lightroom to become Photoshop, but we hope that Adobe will introduce more Photoshop tools to Lightroom. For example, it would be nice to have tools such as content-aware and sharpening in Lightroom. But for now, we are excited about the upcoming Lightroom update.
