Has Canon saved or killed DSLRs

In 2017 Sony released the a9 mirrorless camera that sent shockwaves in the photography industry. The camera dubbed the DSLR killer, the camera to beat, convinced many professional photographers to consider mirrorless cameras.

The Sony a9 was considered the camera to beat. The other major camera manufacturers have noticed and responded. Canon has responded by releasing the 1DX III and Nikon is rumoured to be releasing D780 soon. According to reviews, the 1DX III is just as good if not better than the Sony a9 series. The new Canon 1DX III is a 20.1 megapixel full-frame DSLR that can take 16 images in a second. If using live view, the 1DX III can fire an astounding 20 frames per second matching the Sony a9.

Tony Northrup has done an in-depth review of both cameras in the video below.

What do you think will Canon 1DX III rival or kill the Sony a9 series. Will the introduction of the 1DX III and the rumoured Nikon d780 save DSLR cameras from demise?
